What is the difference between SJT and SVT power cords?

The difference in SJT and SVT cords lies in their capacity to handle temperature and loads. The insulation on SJT cords is thicker than on SVT. The conductor size on SJT cords can range from 10 AWG up to 18 AWG wire. SVT cords offer 17 AWG and 18 AWG only.

Applications

SJT cords are often 15 Amp rated and designed for constant-duty equipment such as computer servers and high-draw peripherals like laser printers, UPS systems or other types of electrical equipment. SVT cords are often 15 Amp rated and common on peripherals such as personal computers, digital monitors and other lower current-draw devices.
